Alice the Elf…aka the Shelf

Shortly after Thanksgiving, Alice the Elf and her sparkle skirt arrived at the Robinson household.  Granny Martha calls Charley “Alice” sometimes to be funny or irritate her, so Alice seemed like the perfect name.  Craig and Amma introduced Alice to Charley while I was out of town for work, and she insisited on calling it “the Shelf.”  At first she didn’t like “the Shelf” but started to like her more each morning when she got up to look for her.  She even started saying better prayers so “the Shelf” wouldn’t go back to the North Pole and tell Santa that she wasn’t saying her night time prayers.  Alice was pretty tame and bounced around mostly downstairs to places like the different Christmas trees, the “boot” (stocking), and light fixtures.  She had a couple of adventures making hot chocolate and stealing Charley’s Christmas hair bows.  It sure is a shame she had to go back to the North Pole, because it was so nice having something to back up our behavior threats!  “Charley if you don’t _________________ right this minute, I am gonna tell Alice and she will tell Santa and you won’t get anything for Christmas!”  If we used that line once, we used it 100 times!  I am convinced the creator of Elf on the Shelf had a Miss Priss named Charley or a little blond headed boy named Justin!
