Last Day and Preschool Program

What a blessing Mt. Juliet Church of Christ Preschool has been for us this year!  Charley went to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-1:30, made the sweetest friends, learned lots and had incredible teachers.  I am beyond thankful to live in the community with this precious school.  Charley really enjoyed school...on most days...and almost always wanted to go.  One day after school she came home and said, “I’m a little bit mad at my teachers...they wouldn’t call me Princess!”  Ms. Catherine thought that was hilarious!

Charley’s Preschool Program was on a Friday night at the church building.  For weeks we practiced her two songs “Oh Be Careful Little...” and “The B.I.B.L.E.” Granddad took off work to be at the program.  Amma promised her new pool toys if she did a good job.  We had sparkle cookies waiting in the car.  Her teacher even told me that she was the loudest singer in the class...despite all the preparation, bribes and cute outfit...she sat on the steps, arms crossed and mouth tightly shut.  When the program was over Amma was not so happy with her and told her she wasn’t going to go get those pool toys.  Charley said, “I really wanted to sing, but my mouth just didn’t work!”  We all lost it.  Granddad Mike said her performance called for an ice cream celebration!  haha

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day weekend was so special, because I spent it with my sweet baby girl, mom and grandmothers.  Pregnancy brain must be getting the best of me, because I don't remember what else we did that weekend....I’m sure it was just nice being in Kentucky.  We celebrated at Catfish Kitchen after church with Granny Martha and Belew’s for dinner with Granny Katherine.  Miss Priss and Craig made me feel extra special with lots of sweet cards and maternity jeans!  Next Mother’s Day will be double the sweetness when baby number two comes along!

Charley at the Bank

Over Mother’s Day weekend, we took Charley and her owl bank to CFSB to empty it into her savings account.  All birthday and holiday money that she has gotten has gone straight into her bank account, but her owl bank was FULL of change and dollars that she has collected over the past three years.  Cute little girls must attract $1 bills, because even while we were emptying her bank into the coin machine, a nice man gave her another $1.  Miss Paige was so nice and patient.  She gave Charley several suckers and Smartie’s...and even showed up at church Sunday with more!  She deposited $85.83 from her owl bank into her savings account and is ready to fill it up again!

A “BIG” Secret for Easter

We managed to keep a "big" secret from Miss Priss for about 12 weeks.  So on Easter, she got a new t-shirt in her Easter basket that said “BIG SIS!”  We couldn’t really tell at first how she felt about the baby, probably because of the two Easter baskets filled with Ariel and Snow White princess dresses, but it wasn’t long before the questions came pouring in on us.  “Where’s your baby?”  “What’s your baby doing?”  I tried to explain to her that it would be close to Halloween before the baby gets here, and that Mommy is having a little pumpkin.  It wasn’t until she got to church, walked right in and said to Granny Martha and Ms. Sherry, “My Momma has a baby in her belly.  It’s a pumpkin!”  We knew she wouldn’t be too good at keeping a secret, so I am definitely glad we waited that long to tell her.  As the day went on, we told everyone at Granny Martha’s and Granny Katherine’s house...but made it clear not to tell the world or make any social media announcements until I find out what we are having!  I love the idea of a good surprise!!!

We had the best day with everyone and shared two yummy meals, an Easter egg hunt, family time and lots of laughs...especially during the family photo shoot at Granny Martha and Granddad Charlie’s house.

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday before Easter, we attended the neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt at the Clubhouse.  We enjoyed a tasty brunch, pictures with the Easter bunny, fun games and a big egg hunt in the playground.  Charley really loved playing with her friends when it was over.

Apparently this little Matilda Jane outfit has been a favorite of mine for Spring, since she has worn it on 3 or 4 different “picture” days!  Time to rotate in some others!
