Carter's 1st Day of Preschool

Carter started preschool at Mount Juliet Church of Christ on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  She is so tiny and around 8 months younger than Charley when she first started.  We will definitely have an adjustment period on our hands, but she seems to really like Ms. Pam and Ms. Sharon...and I know they will fall in love with her, too.  Praying she learns so much, makes new friends, adjusts to her new routine...and gets rid of that sassy!!!!

Our first day of school was in typical Carter style...hard...really hard.  It started off OK reading her sweet book The Night Before Preschool, and I even snapped a few pictures, which was impressive since Daddy was out of town, but she got up in the night and was awake from 1-4 a.m.  If the first day of preschool wasn't enough of a milestone, she pooped in the tub to make things a little more interesting.  (This was a first at our house, and hopefully the last?)  Pictures were a joke because I took the sassy away, but she wanted to carry the lunchbox like a purse...which was pretty cute! Luckily, Amma to the rescue, and we re-took the first day of preschool picture after she had a nap!

Charley goes to Kindergarten

I feel like it was yesterday and Charley was a baby...now she is five and we are a week into kindergarten at Rutland Elementary.  I know people say it goes by fast, but this is much faster than I could have imagined.  She has such a fun and imaginative personality and catches on so quickly.  I know she is going to thrive in school.  She hit it off with her teacher Ms. Bachelder, and I am so looking forward to how she grows and learns this year.  Of all her gifts, she knows what it's like to be loved.  My biggest prayer is that she shares that love and kindness with everyone.

On the night before kindergarten, we read a few books and spread confetti all over her bed and pillow.  (Daddy wasn't a fan of the party and mess...Momma and Charley loved it!)

Our sassy girl wasn't nervous or sad when we left her in her classroom.  She actually barely looked up when she gave us our side hugs as she continued on her first coloring page of the day.  Craig and I made it to the hallway before our eyes got watery.

Charley has begged to ride the bus since we talked about her going to school.  It was NOT even an option in our book.  I didn't even want to sign the "if she only rides one time this year" form....until I waited in the car line ONE day...then I changed my mind!  She's home before I would get out of the line.  Carter can stay in her bed and nap.  Charley loves it.  And I don't have to wait in the longest line ever!  It's a win all the way around.

Happy 30th Birthday, Daddy!!!

We celebrated Craig's 30th birthday for 2 weeks!  We had a non-surprise, surprise party for him with our Bible class.  The plan was for it to be a surprise, but he was included in the email that went out...so it was a non-surprise, but still lots of fun!  He went with me on my work trip to Dallas.  We went out with friends to dinner, the Escape Game and a movie...we didn't escape...I am not going to go into detail on that...I'm not happy about it, still!  We celebrated his actual birthday with the girls in Kentucky.  We had a DQ ice cream cake after church, and he picked Texas Roadhouse for his birthday dinner!  The girls and I loved celebrating our favorite guy!  Happy 30th Birthday, Daddy...we love you!!!

Summer Days in Kentucky

Nothing says country girls quite like tractor rides, berry pickin', fish cleaning, car washing and running around the house naked.  The girls absolutely LOVE being in Kentucky, and Charley has even begged to move there.  Charley and Carter might be considered city girls, but they will know their way around the country, too!
