4th of July Picinic

As always, our 4th of July was spent at Granddaddy Charlie’s Fish Fry, and it couldn’t have been more perfect!  The food was super tasty, the weather was amazing, and we just had the best time with all of our friends and family.  Charley particularly loved having her Uncle Justin wrapped around her little finger and playing with all of her cousins!

Uncle Justin’s Demolition Derby

Uncle Justin was in the Demolition Derby at Hopkinsville.  He had worked on his car for weeks and was so excited for us to go and support him.  He ordered t-shirts, and of course Charley kept saying she was NOT going to wear it.  I wasn’t going to press the issue, especially since I learned my lesson with VBS, but all it took was Uncle Justin asking her and she wore it!  Little stinker!  Charley loved watching the Derby and cheering on her Uncle Justin.  Her Daddy took her to ride the fair rides, so she ended up having tons of fun!  Justin didn’t win, but he did a great job!!!

Pickin’ Blueberries with Granddad Charlie

It doesn’t even seem possible for Granddad Charlie’s garden to get better, but each year it does.  While we were in Kentucky for the 4th, Charley helped Granddad Charlie pick blueberries.  She was so good at it.  She was very particular at which ones went into her bucket.  She kept saying, “ooh they are so slippery and sweet!”  She wasn’t a fan of getting her feet dirty, but she was definitely adorable at pickin’ blueberries.

VBS at MT Juliet Church of Christ

Charley went to VBS at MT Juliet Church of Christ, and it was AMAZING!!!  It was a Monday through Thursday during the mornings from 9-12.  After we got her in a class with her friends, she LOVED it!  Of course we can’t go anywhere without some Miss Priss drama.  They sent home a t-shirt for all the kids to wear on the last day.  She was NOT going to wear it.  She’s not a fan of t-shirts and kept insisting on needing to wear a dress.  In hindsight, this is a battle that Amma and I won’t try to fight again, but after bribing and pleading, she ended up in the shirt.  She was ticked and asked for her blue jean jacket to cover it up...in the 90° plus weather, she wore a jacket until after VBS was over!  That girl doesn’t mess around when she makes up her mind!

Charley’s First Dentist Appointment

In true Miss Priss fashion, taking Charley to the dentist was a bit of an ordeal.  An ordeal that I left up to our amazing Amma!  I am trying to use summer as an opportunity to get things marked off our always growing to-do list, so luckily Amma was able to take Charley to her first dentist appointment.  I’m not really sure about the details, but I do know she cried, Amma held her, the dentist brushed and counted her teeth, something about nasty floride she spit out, she calmed down, then posed for the pictures.  We can repeat this again in 6 months...yeah!

Girl’s Trip to Florida

For the last couple of years we have looked for an opportunity to take Charley and Amma on a work trip with me so I wouldn’t be alone at night and so they could have some fun during the day.  So when Michelle invited us to go with her, Keyton and Mrs. Susie to Florida to their condo, it seemed like the perfect time...especially since I had been working on developing the Central Florida territory.  I worked most of the time we were there, but we had a great week!  The girls spent every day at the pool, and Charley says she is “brown as a biscuit!”  As much as Charley and Keyton talk about each other, we thought they would play great together....well, that wasn’t exactly the case!  Both girls are only children and grandchildren, so sharing was a little bit of an issue.  Mix that with lots of sun and little sleep, and we had an exhausting week!  On the last day, Michelle and I went to Target and got a baby for Charley that matched Keyton’s baby, and we had totally different kiddos!  Why didn’t we do that the first day???  Next time we know to take matching toys, snacks, jammies, bows and outfits...then we should be good to go!  I am beyond thankful for great friends and Amma, so we can have fun adventures like we did this week!
