My precious grandparents, Charles and Martha Yates, were married on May 13, 1950, the day after they graduated from high school. They have officially reached an extraordinary and rare milestone and were so blessed to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary. The US Census Bureau doesn’t even track the statistics for couples that are married that long because it’s so uncommon. It’s estimated that there are only around 1,000 married couples in the entire United States right now that have met this milestone. I’ve always known my grandparents are special, but achieving a milestone that roughly 0.01% of marriages actually reach is truly remarkable.
The 75th anniversary is called the diamond anniversary, because diamonds, like the bond of a long lasting marriage, are rare, precious and enduring. I can't think of a more fitting symbol for my grandparents' commitment to each other. Their devotion to their marriage and our family is unmatched. We had the most precious celebration for their 75th Diamond Anniversary.
