The first weekend in February was probably one of the busiest weekends we have had all winter. We knew earlier in the week that it was going to be a "manage one thing at a time" kind of weekend, but we made sure to rearrange our plans when Charley came home with an invitation to view her art work at the Frist on Saturday. She was so cute and excited when she told us about the announcement at school. She said they started talking about art and she stopped paying attention because she just knew it wouldn't have anything to do with her! haha. She was shocked when she heard her name, and felt so proud when her class and Miss Amber started congratulating her. The funniest part of the whole day was that she didn't even know which piece of art her teacher selected.
After getting more details, we discovered this was quite an honor to be selected. Each year, two students for each grade from each school in Wilson County are chosen to to be in the showcase. Amma and Grandad were able to meet us for the presentation because they were in town to have dinner with Justin and Shelley, and we had to be downtown for Charley's cheer competition later that night. We met Charley's art teacher, Miss Beth, and she was so proud of Charley's scarecrow and how she used different art techniques throughout the piece to create texture. We also ran into a few friends from church that were representing their schools.
The art show was definitely a highlight of our weekend, and we are so proud of our girl and how she uses her gift of creativity.
