It's not very often that I can't find the words to describe something, but that is exactly how I felt after opening night of The Sound of Music. Thanks to COVID, the odds were stacked against the show, but Miss Angie and Miss Brett did everything they possibly could for the show to go on. For months the cast had socially distant rehearsals, they wore masks, postponed the show from December to March, and spaced out rehearsals to have as few people together as possible. That was so much extra work for the directors, but all of their hard work and precautions paid off in the end. The show was soooo good! Everyone was amazing in their roles, and Charley played Gretl von Trapp like she was made for the part. All of the von Trapp kids were incredible together, and they actually looked like a little family.
Charley has taken weekly voice lessons from Miss Valerie (who played Mother Abbess in the show) since last August, and she has grown so much. She shared the stage with lots of talent, and she fit right in. It was such a joy to watch her delivering her lines, harmonizing with the other kids and singing her very first solo in a show. We are so proud of her growth and as much as I hate to see this chapter come to an end, I know the sky is the limit for her future.
