Charley started discussing her birthday party plans in early January. The very thought of planning a party stressed me out, so I suggested a trip with Momma and Daddy in place of a party. Sister loves to travel and didn't hesitate to take the trip! She didn't even seem to care where were going. The girls are obsessed with Harry Potter, so a long weekend at Universal seemed like the perfect birthday celebration. I really debated on if I should take Carter, because she loves Potter so much too, but after reading some blogs, asking around and double checking the girl's heights, I am so glad we let her stay with Amma and Grandad. Charley was exactly 48" in barely tall enough to ride several of the rides....plus it was extra special for us to spend some time with Charley without distractions.
We wanted to be at the park on Friday, Charley's actual birthday, so we flew to Orlando on Thursday night after school. Charley had the MOST special day turning 7 at Universal. From breakfast until bedtime, Charley received birthday wishes from everyone we met! I ordered her a shirt that said "I solemnly swear that it's my birthday" so strangers were constantly saying "happy birthday!" She even had a few special announcements on some of the rides we rode! It was so cute hearing her name over the loud speaker and seeing her giant smile when everyone in the area clapped for her!
In true Charley fashion, she ate, posed and rode her way through Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. The crowds weren't too bad on Friday, so we were able to do and see so much, but the place was packed on Saturday. Daddy decided we needed to make the most of our trip, so he bought fast passes for the day...which was awesome! We were there from the time the park opened until the time it closed, which was almost 12 hours, and we did EVERYTHING! We were obsessed with Harry Potter World and rode Harry Potter the Forbidden Journey 6 times. It was the BEST ride and we loved it! The workers even recognized us by the time the day ended because we rode it so often.
Charley wanted to ride the water rides from the second she saw them. The weather was ok...it didn't rain and we didn't freeze...but it definitely wasn't warm enough to get wet on a water ride. We tried everything to talk her out of it. We even spent 30 minutes at a kiddie water slide letting her ride over and over thinking it would do the trick...it didn't. Somewhere along the way I had the bright idea to see if she could ride by herself...and she could! Woohoo for 48"!! Nothing was going to stop her from riding Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls and Jurassic Park River Adventure. She was soaked after the first ride but had a huge grin on her face when I met her at the exit! I should have researched the Jurassic Park ride or asked why the worker was shocked when I said she would be riding as a single, because she said it was a little scary. She didn't let it bother her too much, because the girl she was beside looked like a 9 year old, so she just pretended that was her big sister! haha
Charley's birthday trip was SO MUCH FUN!!! Exhausting, but such a fun and special way to celebrate our girl's 7th birthday!!!!
