The spring 2023 softball season was one for the record books! The Braves ended the season as the 8U Pee Wee Softball League Champions with a 17-2 record. They were such an impressive team to watch and definitely deserved the gold championship rings! The start of the season was pretty rocky for Carter, because she broke her arm at the very first practice. We weren't sure how she would do once she was released to play, but she never missed a beat! She improved each game and her bat was on fire by the end of the season with countless triples and two, incredible home runs.
Their winning record was just the icing on the cake for an already sweet season. Carter had so many different fans cheering her on, but I think it's pretty special that 5 of her great-grandparents were able to come watch her play. Granny Martha and Grandad Charlie were even at the championship game and got back to Benton at midnight! The group of girls (and their parents) made this team and season extra special, too. Carter had just as much fun on the field as she did when she was off of it. I loved watching her play and interact with her teammates! And I can't summarize the season's special moments without mentioning how precious it was for Mr. Harold to pull out his wallet and give Carter ice cream money on more than one occasion.
Being the coach's wife with a toddler and busy tween wasn't always easy, but every hard night or schedule juggling act was worth it to see Carter and Craig in their element together! I jokingly started calling Craig "King Softball" this season, but he has turned in a phenomenal coach...even if I had to coach him a little along the way!
