Carter and Daddy at the Braves Game - Daddy Guest Blog

When Carter begged me to be her softball coach in the fall, I secretly loved it, but what I loved even more was how much she began to really enjoy the game and I could tell that she was learning so much.  So when Jess suggested that we go see a Braves game, I thought it was a great idea!  I didn't realize that it would be one of my favorite days ever with Carter.

Carter's team had a game Saturday (we won!), so we left as soon as we could get back home, showered, and out the door.  Our trip started a little rocky when traffic forced us to take a detour through Cookeville, but Carter being the easy going kid didn't mind one bit.  We made it to Mamy and Pops' in time to have dinner with them and see Mimi and Grandy and Mawmaw for a little bit.

The next morning Carter was so excited to get to the ballpark.  We had ordered matching shirts when we bought our tickets to the game, and we made sure to get to the ballpark as early as we could to walk around and see all the cool stuff before it started.  I told Carter she could have anything that she wanted, but when we finally got to the store, all she wanted was a foam finger (I finally figured out what she meant when she kept saying she wanted a finger). We had hot dogs, dip n dots, Cokes, and frozen lemonade, but what surprised me the most was that she watched the entire game from her seat and only got up 2 times - once to go to the bathroom and once to get a drink.  She was so into the game and loved watching her new favorite player Ozzie Albies (aka "Ozzie Oz")  because he was "fast."  The Braves pulled out a big win, and it was so much fun to watch how excited she got every time the Braves scored.

The great thing about going to the Braves game on Sunday is that the kids get to run the bases when it's over.  We had to wait a while (should have realized that we needed to line up earlier, but we were having too much fun watching the game) but it was totally worth it.  It was awesome getting to walk on the same field where the Braves had just played, and it was even more awesome to get to watch Carter run the bases as fast as she could!  She kept saying that she had such a great time and that made the entire trip worth it.

After that game, Carter started watching the Braves more with me and the icing on the cake was a World Series Championship for the Braves and getting to watch those games with Carter.

This Braves game was such a blast and I can't wait to take the entire family to the next one!
