Somehow I managed to not schedule Charley’s 3 year check up and with our crazy calendar it was more like 3 years and 5 months. The nurse made me feel better, because she said it was ok as long as I brought her before she turned 4! Taking Charley to the doctor has never really been an easy task, but being a 3 year old made a huge difference...she was amazing! She did everything she was told, including peeing in a cup. I told her it would be a fun game to see how much pee I could catch. She said, “that doesn’t sound like a very fun game!” So I went to plan B, and I bribed her with the princess pet toy she had been begging for at Target. Needless to say, she “played” my fun “game" and won her prize! Dr. Mukudan was very impressed with Charley and her progress. She chatted with him and answered most of his questions. He let her do his whole check up, and I think she even caught him off guard. He told her to hold something, so I said, “Charley, tell him what hand that is.” She said, “it’s my right hand.” Then I could tell he was intrigued and he quizzed her on the other hand and both feet. After she got those right, he said, “which one is your nose?” She said, “it’s in the middle!” At that point he laughed and recommended that we look into gifted programs for preschool children provided by the state in Wilson County. (I thought he was just being nice, but when he came back in to give me her stats, he had written that on there as my prescription...haha...there isn’t one in Wilson Co., but it’s good to know that she is on pace for school in a few years!)
