For months and months Charley has talked about seeing the real Cinderella movie with Uncle Justin. For her birthday, Amma and Granddad got her a new Cinderella dress, hee-haws, and jewelry so she could look the part for the movie. She basically refused to wear the dress up until a few hours before the movie. I told her we needed to compromise. After explaining how a compromise worked, I said you can wear the dress to the movie, get a picture with Justin, then take it off. I’m certain that would have worked with any other kid...not Charley. She had to add to the negotiation. She said, “I’ve got a better idea. I’ll wear the dress, and take it off for the movie, but I am going to wear play clothes under it!” (Note: this Momma allows play clothes for play not for going places.) Deal! We shook on it, and everyone was happy...especially since Amma kept ignoring her when she asked to take off the dress and that old, ratty Rapunzel shirt didn’t make an appearance!

Happy 4th Birthday Charley!!!
Charley had her “real” birthday party at Pump It Up this
year. I wasn’t too thrilled about
the idea from the get go…or during, to be quite honest…but I think the party
turned out being super fun for all of the kiddos. Tons of Charley’s friends from school, church, dance and our
neighborhood came to celebrate. I
think we hit the max capacity of 25 kids or more. We had our traditional Parcell’s cupcakes, but I wanted to
do a little something extra fun this year, so I catered Sweet CeCe’s frozen
yogurt. They came and set up a
table with some of the yummy toppings.
It was a huge hit for the kids and parents!
Charley was super shy while singing “Happy Birthday,” but it
might have had something to do with the fact that she was mad at me for not
getting purple cupcakes! (This
wasn’t my first rodeo, and I pre-approved the icing colors with Charley before
I ordered them…obviously she forgot!)
The whole present opening experience was wild! Thankfully Pump It Up assigns someone
to keep a present log while the kids open them, otherwise I wouldn’t have a
clue who got her what especially since she had so many helpers.
My very first work trip after having Baby Carter got planned
the day before Charley’s party, which left me having to travel to Florida on
her actual birthday. I’m gonna be
totally honest, when Amma pulled out of the driveway with the girls, my heart
hurt a little. Leaving the baby
and missing Big Sister’s birthday was almost too much at once. Amma had a full day of fun planned in
Kentucky so I felt a little better!
(And being in Florida for a few days certainly helped!) She went to Chuck E Cheese with Kobey
and Laney since they share a birthday.
She painted pottery at Funky Monkey with Keyton. She also went to gymnastics with
Keyton….which I am pretty sure was her favorite thing of the whole day!
